The Association of NHS Charities plays a key role in supporting its member charities which between them have assets in excess of £2.3bn and an annual income of more than £330m. Through our Fundraising Mutual Interest Group (known as the 'MIG') the Association provides its members with advice and guidance on a range of fundraising issues primarily through our MIG conferences but also on an individual basis. Peter Dalton was instrumental in helping to set the MIG up in 2009 and then served as Chairman until his return to Australia in 2012. Peter's extensive knowledge of fundraising and specifically within the health sector, as well as his first class ability as a Chairman and conference presenter, ensured the MIG became one of the most popular and highly valued membership benefits. Peter also assisted many individual members with requests for help on a range of fundraising issues, both operational and strategic and was a constant source of information and inspiration to us all.

We were extremely fortunate to have Peter working with us during these formative years and he is greatly missed, but such was the significance of his contribution that the MIG is now a key feature of Association. Not only has the MIG raised the profile of fundraising generally amongst the membership but it has also encouraged many member charities to expand and improve their fundraising operations thereby significantly increasing their income. One couldn't ask for a more valuable and long lasting contribution and we owe our gratitude to Peter for that!

Amanda Witherall,

Chief Executive
